🧠 Summary / Purpose

This article provides step-by-step instructions for administrators to create new platform connections (such as LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Microsoft Teams) within MirrorWeb Insight's interface.

🔍 Use Case / Scenario

When to use: When onboarding new users who need to archive communications from specific platforms (LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Teams, etc.)

Who this is for: MirrorWeb administrators managing connections for their organization

Common scenarios: Setting up a new employee's archiving connections, adding a new platform for an existing user, or configuring capture scope for specific compliance needs

🛠️ Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Navigate to Connection Management

2. Access Connections

  • Click on the "Connections" in the left hand navigation pane.

Add a new connection by selecting Add connections and then New Connections

3. Initiate New Connection

  • Click "Add connections" button

  • Select "New Connection" from the dropdown menu

4. Select Platform

  • Choose the platform you want to create a connection for (e.g., LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Microsoft Teams)

5. Name the Connection (Optional)

  • Enter a descriptive "Connection Name" to help identify this connection later

6. Add User Email

  • Insert the admin email address of the user who will receive and authenticate this connection

7. Configure Scope of Capture (Optional - Platform dependent)

  • Review the default capture settings (Pages, Posts, Messages)

  • Select or unselect checkboxes based on what content types need to be archived

8. Create Connection

  • Click "Create connection" button to finalize and send the connection invitation to the user

💡 Pro Tips

Connection naming: Use a clear naming convention like "Username - Platform - Date" to make connections easier to manage at scale

Scope of capture: Review your organization's compliance requirements before adjusting the default scope settings—some platforms may require all message types to be captured

User communication: Inform users in advance that they'll receive a connection invitation email from MirrorWeb, as they'll need to authenticate the connection on their end and not mark as spam.

🧪 Troubleshooting

User didn't receive invitation: Check spam/junk folders; you can resend the connection from the Connections list

Platform not available: Ensure your MirrorWeb subscription includes the specific platform you're trying to connect. Reach out to your Customer Success Team @ [email protected] if you require further licenses.
