Summary
After your iMessage account is connected, MirrorWeb Mobile Capture can also capture SMS text messages through SMS forwarding. This is a user-facing step completed on the same device that was used for iMessage provisioning: you work through a short on-screen guide, enable forwarding to the MirrorWeb device in your iPhone's settings, then confirm the code your iPhone shows. This guide describes that request → confirm flow and how to reset it if something goes wrong.
Prerequisites
A completed iMessage connection. SMS forwarding becomes available once iMessage provisioning is complete — the app then shows a Set up SMS forwarding screen.
The iPhone whose number is being captured, with access to its Settings app.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Start SMS forwarding
When iMessage provisioning is complete, the app shows the Set up SMS forwarding screen:
"Your iMessage account is connected. You can now set up SMS forwarding so text messages are captured too."
Select Set up SMS forwarding to begin.
Step 2: Work through the SMS Forwarding Setup Guide
The SMS Forwarding Setup Guide walks you through enabling forwarding on the iPhone. Each step shows an image and instructions, and you move through them with Continue (and Previous to go back). The guide covers:
A possible pop-up on your phone — if you see it, tap Cancel on the iPhone; if you don't, continue.
Open the Settings app.
Select Apps (usually at the bottom of the list).
Select the Messages app.
Select Text Message Forwarding. If that option isn't shown, open Send and Receive, check Use Apple Account for iMessage, then go back — forwarding should now be available.
In the device list, find the device whose name starts with MirrorWeb and enable its toggle so it turns green.
On the device-selection step you can select Complete to validate the setup, or Restart to start the guide again if you don't see the MirrorWeb device.
Note: An interactive version of this guide is linked from the screen ("view our interactive guide here").
Step 3: Answer the passcode question and validate
After finishing the guide, the app asks "Has your phone requested a code to be entered?" with Yes and No buttons. Choose the answer that matches what your iPhone showed. The app then displays Validating SMS Forwarding while it checks the setup.
Step 4: Enter the code on your iPhone (if prompted)
If a code is required, the app shows the Enter the code on your iPhone screen and displays the digits to type into the prompt on the iPhone. After entering them on the phone, select I have entered the code on my iPhone. If you can't enter it, select I can't enter the code on my iPhone to restart the SMS forwarding setup.
Step 5: Reset or retry if something goes wrong
If the request is cancelled on the iPhone or something fails, the app shows a Let's try again screen ("Something went wrong, or the request was cancelled on the iPhone..."). Tap Cancel on the iPhone if you see the notification shown, then select Try Again to restart SMS forwarding setup.
Notes
Note: SMS forwarding is part of the same per-device provisioning session as iMessage. It is initiated and completed by the user on their iPhone, not configured centrally by an admin.
Note: If the Text Message Forwarding option does not appear in the Messages settings, enable Use Apple Account for iMessage under Send and Receive first, as described in the on-screen guide.
