Summary
When MirrorWeb detects newly-seen corporate email addresses (and other identifiers) in captured communications, it queues them as pending matches on the Identity Matching page so you can "Create or match identities for newly-detected corporate email addresses". For each pending match you can link it to an existing identity, create a new identity from it, or ignore it. You can action matches individually or select several and action them together. Ignoring matches requires identity matching write access.
Prerequisites
Login credentials to MirrorWeb Insight
Identity matching read access (to view) and write access (to ignore matches)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Open Identity Matching
Navigate to the Identity Matching page. If there are no pending matches, the page shows "No pending matches". Otherwise, the matches appear in a table with the columns Identifier, Source (the platform), and Status (Active or Inactive).
You can also reach this page from the "{count} match(es) found" link on the Identities page.
Step 2: Search and filter matches
Use the search box ("Search by identifier...") and press Enter to find a match by its identifier. Use the platform dropdown to filter by Source platform (or All).
Step 3: Select matches (optional)
To action several matches at once, tick the checkbox on each match row (or the header checkbox to select all on the page). A badge shows how many are selected, with an X to clear the selection. The action buttons in the toolbar then apply to all selected matches.
Step 4: Link a match to an existing identity
Click the Assign matches button (or, on a single row, its assign button) to open the "Assign {count} match(es)" popover. Search for an identity ("Search for an identity..."), select it, and click Assign. On success you see "Matches assigned successfully".
If the identifier is already linked to that identity, you see an error: "Please ensure the identifier is not already associated with the selected identity."
Step 5: Create a new identity from a match
Click the Create identity button (or its per-row equivalent) to create a new identity directly from the match. On success you see "Identity created successfully".
Step 6: Ignore a match
Click the Ignore match button to open the "Ignore {count} match(es)" popover. Choose a Reason — None, Shared inbox, Spam, or Other. If you choose Other, enter a free-text reason ("Enter a reason for ignoring this match."). Click Ignore. On success you see "Matches ignored".
Notes
The three actions on each match are: link (assign to an existing identity), create (make a new identity), and ignore.
The Ignore match button is disabled without identity matching write access; the tooltip then reads "You don't have access to ignore matches".
Domain settings control which detected addresses surface here as matches; see "How to configure identity settings".
