Summary
The Custom Variables page lets you configure template values that are used across scenarios to customise detection. The page presents a fixed set of variable groups; for each one you add values (such as company names or stock symbols) as tags. Saving applies your changes.
Prerequisites
Login credentials to MirrorWeb Insight
To edit and save variables, you need communications admin permission. Without it, the variables are shown read-only.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Open the Variables page
In the sidebar, under Sentinel, select Variables. The page is headed "Custom Variables" with the subheading "Configure template variables used across scenarios to customize detection".
Step 2: Review the variable groups
The page shows the following variable groups, each with its own input:
Company names — company name variations.
Sports Teams — sports teams to monitor in communications.
Restricted List — project names that should be flagged.
Watchlist — stock symbols with major positions to monitor.
Step 3: Add values to a variable
For each group, type a value into its input and add it as a tag. You can add multiple values to the same group. If you do not have edit permission, the inputs are read-only and show placeholders such as "No company names selected...".
Step 4: Save your changes
When you have edit permission, select Save Changes. On success a "Variables updated" confirmation appears; on failure a "Failed to update variables" message is shown.
Notes
Note: Excluded phrases are not managed here. If you have the relevant read access, a Manage excluded phrases button links to the exclusions area in the Communications module (tooltip: "Excluded phrases are managed in the Communications module.").
