How to manage scenario categories

Organise scenarios into categories with risk levels.

Summary

Sentinel groups scenarios into scenario categories. On the Scenario Categories page you can see every category available to your organisation, enable or disable each one, and set its risk level. The risk level determines the priority with which alerts of that category are displayed and is shared across your organisation.

Categories are predefined for your organisation. The UI does not provide a way to create, rename, or delete categories — you enable, disable, and set the risk level of the categories that exist.

Prerequisites

  • Login credentials to MirrorWeb Insight

  • To enable, disable, or change the risk level of a category, you need communications admin permission. Without it, you can view categories but the controls are disabled.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open the Scenario Categories page

In the sidebar, under Sentinel, select Scenarios. The page is headed "Scenario Categories". If you have permission, the subheading reads "Enable or disable alert categories"; otherwise it reads "View alert categories - you do not have permission to manage alert categories".

Step 2: Review the categories

Each category is shown as a card with its name and description. A toggle in the top-right corner of each card shows whether the category is enabled.

Step 3: Enable or disable a category

Use the toggle on a category card to enable or disable it. Disabled categories are not counted as active on the dashboard.

Step 4: Open a category to set its risk level

Click a category to open its detail page. The page shows the category description, a Total alerts count, and the list of scenarios in the category. At the top are a risk level selector and an enabled/disabled toggle.

Step 5: Change the risk level

Open the risk level button (labelled "{level} Risk") and choose a level from the menu. A tooltip explains: "The risk level determines the priority with which alerts of this category are displayed. It is shared across your organisation."

Notes

Note: The risk level setting is shared across your organisation, so changing it affects how alerts of that category are prioritised for everyone.

Note: If no categories are available, the page shows a "No scenario categories..." message with a link to contact support.
