How to create a team

Create a team to group users with shared permissions.

Written by Harriet Christie

Summary

Teams group users so they share the same access. Creating a team is a two-step process: first you select the team's permissions, then you give the team a name and optionally restrict its platform and identity access. Members are added to the team afterwards.

Prerequisites

  • Login credentials to MirrorWeb Insight

  • Admin access (the Teams area requires administrator permissions)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Start creating a team

From the Teams page, start a new team. The Create New Team page opens with the heading Create New Team and the description "Configure the team settings and permissions by navigating below. You will be able to add members to the team later."

The page shows two numbered steps: 1 Permissions and 2 Overview.

Step 2: Configure permissions

On step 1, Permissions, configure the team's permission rights. The section heading reads "Configure permission rights for each category" with the description "Assign specific permissions to the team. Open the desired accordion and use the multi-select dropdowns to choose the appropriate permissions for each category."

Permissions are grouped into expandable categories. Open a category and use its multi-select dropdowns to choose permissions. Categories include Web Permissions, Search, Lexicons, Exclusions, Identity Permissions, and Reporting. A Clear selection button removes all chosen permissions.

You must select at least one permission before continuing. Click Next to proceed.

Step 3: Enter the team's general details

On step 2, Overview, complete the general settings:

  • Team name (required) - the helper text reads "Enter a team name between 1 and 50 characters." with the placeholder "Enter a team name...".

  • Restrict platform access (optional) - use the Platforms selector ("Select platforms...") to restrict the team to specific platforms. The description reads "Restrict team access to specific platforms."

  • Restrict identity access (optional) - choose an identity type (Identities or Identity Groups) and search for specific identities or groups. The description reads "Restrict team access to messages of specific identities or identity groups."

You can click Back to return to the Permissions step.

Step 4: Create the team

Click Create. While the team is being created, the button shows "Creating...". On success, you are returned to the Teams page. If creation fails, an error is shown.

Notes

  • A new team is created without members. Add members afterwards from the team's page (see "How to edit a team").

  • For a detailed breakdown of each available permission, see the related article on custom team permissions.
