How to use Mira to manage connections

Use Mira to search, create, and manage data source connections.

Summary

Mira is MirrorWeb Insight's AI. You work with Mira through its chat assistant: you open the chat, ask in natural language, and Mira carries out the action for you. For connections, Mira can "Search, view, update platform data-source connections, send connection emails, or check quotas."

Connections are platform data source integrations (email servers, Slack workspaces, Teams, and similar) — they are not people or contacts. Monitored people are managed as identities instead.

One key limit applies: connection creation cannot be done through the chat. If you ask Mira to create a connection, it will explain that this must be done in the admin UI and offer to take you to the connections page.

Prerequisites

  • Login credentials to MirrorWeb Insight

  • The Mira chat assistant enabled for your organisation

  • The permissions required for the connection action you want to perform

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open the Mira chat assistant

Select the chat icon in the top navigation bar (its tooltip reads "Toggle chat"). The chat panel opens with the heading "How can I help?" and a set of suggestions including Connections, whose suggested prompt is "Help me manage data source connections".

Step 2: Ask Mira to find or view connections

Type a natural-language request, for example "Show me my Slack connections" or "What email connections do we have?". When you filter by platform, Mira first resolves the platform name to the right platform before searching, so plain terms like "email", "slack", or "teams" work.

Step 3: Update a connection or send connection emails

You can ask Mira to update a connection, or to "send a request email" or "send a reminder" to connection owners. Mira's send_connection_emails action "sends request or reminder emails to connection owners" and Mira will "confirm before sending". Confirm the request when prompted, and Mira sends the emails.

Step 4: Check quotas or get directed to create a connection

Ask "Do we have any licences left?" and Mira will check your platform quotas. If you ask Mira to create a connection, it explains that creation must be done in the admin UI and offers a clickable button to the connections page where you can complete it manually.

Notes

  • Mira checks quotas "before suggesting creation to verify licence availability".

  • Connection creation is the only connection action the chat cannot perform — everything else (search, view, update, send emails, check quotas) is available conversationally.

  • If a connection action fails or you lack permission, Mira explains the issue and offers a navigation button to the relevant page rather than retrying silently.
