Summary
Each policy has a Message direction setting and a Platforms setting. The direction toggle limits the policy to inbound, outbound, or all messages. The platform setting controls whether the policy is global (every platform) or scoped to specific platforms you select.
Prerequisites
Access to MirrorWeb Insight
Policy write permission
An existing policy, or create one (see "How to create a compliance policy")
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Open the policy
On the Policies page, click the policy you want to configure to open the editor (or click Create policy for a new one).
Step 2: Set the message direction
Under Message direction ("Which message direction does this policy apply to?"), use the toggle to select:
All - applies to messages in both directions (default).
Outbound - applies to outbound messages only.
Inbound - applies to inbound messages only.
Step 3: Choose global or platform-scoped
Under Platforms ("Select platforms this policy should apply to. Platforms can only be applied if this is a non-global policy."), use the toggle:
Global - the policy applies to all platforms; the platform selector is disabled.
Apply To Platforms - enables the platform selector so you can scope the policy.
Step 4: Select platforms
With Apply To Platforms selected, open the Select platforms... selector and choose one or more platforms. You can select multiple.
Step 5: Save
Click Save, then confirm "Saving will overwrite the current policy. Do you wish to continue?" by clicking Save.
Notes
NOTE: A non-global policy only fires for the platforms you specify.
NOTE: Outbound is determined by the sender's address matching your organisation's email domains. Direction logic only applies to email.
IMPORTANT: Direction and platform changes are evaluated at ingest only and are not retroactive; previously processed messages are not re-evaluated.
