Summary

From the Policies page you can search and sort your policies, then open one to change its name, direction, platform scope, and dictionaries. The policy editor also lets you duplicate, activate/deactivate, or delete a policy.

Prerequisites

  • Access to MirrorWeb Insight

  • Policy read permission to view policies; policy write permission to edit (fields are disabled without it)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open the Policies page

Navigate to Policies under Lexicon (subtitle "Manage lexicon policies"). Use the Search by name... box, the status dropdown (All, Active, Inactive), and the sort dropdown (Name A-Z/Z-A, Newest/Oldest) to find a policy.

Step 2: Open a policy

Click a policy in the list. The editor heading shows the policy name, with an Active or Inactive badge, and a line stating how many dictionaries it checks.

Step 3: Edit the policy fields

In the Edit Policy section ("Edit, delete or toggle the status of this policy.") you can change:

  1. Policy name.

  2. Message direction - the All / Outbound / Inbound toggle.

  3. Platforms - the Global / Apply To Platforms toggle and platform selector.

  4. Dictionaries - click Show dictionaries and tick or untick dictionaries (at least one must be selected).

Step 4: Save your changes

Click Save. Confirm in the modal: "Saving will overwrite the current policy. Do you wish to continue?" Then click Save. If required fields are missing, an alert reads: "It looks like you've missed something. Please fill out all of the required fields to save a policy."

Step 5: Duplicate, activate/deactivate, or delete (optional)

At the bottom of the editor:

  • Duplicate policy opens a "Duplicate policy?" modal where you enter a name for the copy (default is the original name with "(copy)").

  • Deactivate policy / Activate policy toggles the policy status (see "How to enable or disable a policy").

  • Delete policy opens a confirmation: "Deletion will stop future messages being evaluated against this policy. Messages that have already been evaluated will still be flagged. Do you wish to continue?"

Notes

IMPORTANT: Policy changes are evaluated at ingest time only and are not retroactive. Deleting or deactivating a policy does not unflag previously flagged messages; messages already evaluated stay flagged.

NOTE: Policy and dictionary names must be unique per organisation. Duplicating a policy fails if the new name is not unique.
