Summary
A central connection captures communications across an email or collaboration tenant rather than per individual user. Central connections use a dedicated multi-page onboarding flow ("Central onboarding"). The platforms that use this flow are Email, Microsoft Teams and Slack channels. Email has three pages (Configuration, Accounts, Instructions); the others have two (Configuration, Accounts).
Prerequisites
Login credentials to MirrorWeb Insight
Admin access for the organisation
Administrator access to the platform tenant you are connecting (for email, the email instructions page states: "You must have administrator rights to your ... tenant. If you don't have these privileges, please share these instructions with your IT staff or MSP.")
A licensed central platform available for the organisation
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Open the Connections page and start a new connection
In the Connection management area, select Connections from the sidebar, click Add connections, then New Connection.
Step 2: Select a central platform
On the Platform selection stage, click the card for a central platform (Email, Microsoft Teams, or Slack channels). This opens the Central onboarding flow. If you have a draft in progress for that platform, a "Resume progress?" dialog offers Resume progress or Start new flow.
Step 3: Configuration page
On the Configuration page ("Configure your connection"), complete:
Connection name — "Enter an optional name for this connection."
Scope of capture — choose Full tenant or Partial tenant ("Select whether you are looking to archive all or select users within the email tenant.")
Global admin access — "Enter the email of the user with global admin access to access the email server."
Domains — "Enter the domain(s) you would like to capture."
For email only: Email Provider — Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or Other.
Click Next to continue (or Platform selection to go back).
Step 4: Import user accounts page
On the Import user accounts page ("Add accounts to this connection by importing a CSV file"):
Click Download template to get the CSV ("Fill out the template CSV file with your list of accounts.")
Drag and drop your completed CSV onto the Upload from CSV card, or click to browse. Only
.csvfiles are accepted.Click Submit. Use Back to return to the Configuration page.
Step 5: Instructions page (email only)
For email connections, the final Instructions page explains how to configure your tenant for archiving — creating a journaling rule, then setting up a connector and transport rule for the journal address shown on the connection page. A button links to a provider-specific setup guide for Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. Click Complete setup to finish.
Notes
Note: The page indicators at the top let you move between completed pages once you have entered data.
Note: If your Scope of capture is Partial tenant, you specify which accounts to capture. After the connection exists, a Tenant Configuration tab is available on the connection (see "How to configure tenant accounts for a connection").
Note: Captured accounts for a central connection are visible on the connection's Captured Accounts tab once data starts arriving.
