Summary

The Compare area lets you select two captures of a page and view them side by side to identify differences. You choose a base page and a comparison page by selecting a site, a URL, and a specific capture for each, then run the comparison.

Prerequisites

  • Access to the Web area of the platform for your organisation.

  • The Compare option visible in the sidebar for your organisation.

  • Two captures you want to compare.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open the Compare page

In the left sidebar, under the Web heading, select Compare.

The page is headed Compare with the subheading "Select captures from your web estate to compare side by side".

Open the Compare page

Step 2: Select the base page

Under Select a base page ("Choose an initial page to compare with another capture"):

  • Step 1: Select the site profile containing the capture — start typing a site name (the field searches after a few characters).

  • Step 2: Select the page url you want to compare — start typing a URL within that site.

  • Step 3: Select a capture of your chosen base url — select the calendar button to open the capture chooser and pick a dated capture.

Select the base site, URL, and capture

Step 3: Select the comparison page

Under Select a comparison page ("Choose a 2nd capture to compare against your base selection"):

  • Step 4: Select the site profile containing the capture.

  • Step 5: Select the page url you want to compare.

  • Step 6: Select a capture of your chosen comparison url — use the calendar button to pick a dated capture.

Select the comparison site, URL, and capture

Step 4: Run the comparison

Select Compare. The button is only enabled once a site, URL, and capture have been chosen for both the base and comparison pages. The side-by-side comparison opens.

Run the comparison

Notes

  • When picking a capture, the chooser opens a modal headed "Choose a capture for " showing the capture timeline for that URL.

  • Some organisations can also start a comparison directly from an instance's detail page using a Compare button, which opens a "Select a url to compare" dialog of in-scope URLs for that instance.
